Things to do in Alpharetta, Georgia

Alpharetta, Georgia history

Until 1932, Alpharetta was the county seat of Milton County. That year, Milton and Campbell County merged into Fulton County in an attempt to reduce expenses during the Great Depression.

Alpharetta retained its rural setting until the 1980's, when Georgia 400 brought the sprawl of Atlanta to the city. The completion of Northpoint Mall in the 1990's gave the city additional impetus for growth.
